Insulated Steam Injection Tubing -

With our manufacturing partner in Houston, Texas, we have developed a rugged, high-performance Insulated Steam Injection Tubing for use in enhanced oil recovery projects. The Thermal Tube 3-H tubulars employs a high vacuum as the insulating medium offering the highest thermal performance for oil field steam injection projects.

Thermal Tube 3-H’s vacuum, a nearly perfect insulator, is an ideal method of ensuring maximum thermal performance and delivering more usable BTU’s to the oil formation. Our superior thermal conductivity values translate into reduced well-bore heat loss and reduced steam costs.

Thermal Tube 3H is a tube-within-a-tube, constructed from standard oil country steel tubing. The specially upset and welded connection between the inner and outer tubes provides added strength while a thermal insert minimize heat loss from the collar area. Spacer clamps are attached to the inner tube for annulus alignment, and then wrapped in foil and glass insulating paper to provide radiation and conduction barriers. A non-evaporable Getter is added to maintain the high vacuum throughout the tubes life.

Joints are mechanically prestresed to compensate for the difference in expansion caused by temperature differences between the inner and outer tube. Tubes are threaded using the USS “Improved Buttress Thread” and use a seal ring insert for reliable sealing. Tubing is delivered with thermal collar inserts installed.

ITM can provide a computerized thermal analysis of individual wellbores based on a complete understanding of heat transfer downhole.
